A venture-backed startup with deep tech roots wanted to partner with a retained search and advisory firm that could relate to their organization as a global, remote-first business. CTE would be tasked with providing support for two executive-level positions that would be critical to business growth in both technical and nontechnical functions. As an early-stage organization, the client was still in the process of defining their identity and also wanted a partner who could advise executives on the best way to articulate the brand story to the market.
CTE worked directly with the CEO and COO to guide the client team through the search process, first focusing on qualifying client expectations followed by a short calibration process to confirm the desired skillsets and backgrounds for each search. CTE then worked with the client to devise an effective recruitment strategy with a national reach that also focused intentionally on developing diverse pipelines for future senior-level hiring needs. Throughout the second phase of the process, CTE advised the client on various ways to eliminate inherent bias associated with the job description and talent acquisition process that would discourage interest from diverse candidates with nontraditional backgrounds.
CTE was successful in making both placements in a very short period, filling the critical positions in 79 days and 45 days respectively, well ahead of industry standard. In addition, CTE’s consultative approach and unique perspective inspired the client to revamp their core values. Through a companywide initiative modeled after CTE’s Values-First vision plan, the client codified their new guiding principles with broad employee buy-in. This effort has produced an increase in engagement from internal employees and separated the client’s culture as a differentiator when recruiting and engaging new candidates.
